Do not be discouraged when your endeavours do not turn out the way you expect.
Instead be encouraged! For, through these very experiences, you develop the strength to press on regardless, to keep going and to face such challenges with fresh determination. If the creative path were smooth and free from mishaps, you would easily become complacent and even ‘stuck in a rut’. So regard every ‘bump’ in the road as an opportunity to practice ordinary courage and to push yourself to even greater works of wonder, love and beauty.
How tempting it is to withdraw and hide away, doubting the passion planted deep within your soul and wondering if such challenges are a ‘sign’ that you should no longer journey onward.
Yet nothing worthwhile was ever achieved easily and without guts, determination and sheer hard-work. “Rome wasn’t built in a day!” as the saying goes, and similarly realising precious dreams takes time too, as they grow and develop. More often than not they evolve in ways that we never initially envisaged, taking on a ‘life’ of their own that is way beyond all our imaginings. Listen to their tender whisperings, dear one, for they often reveal secrets that have been buried deep within your soul. Yes, there will be stops and starts as you readjust your course along the way. So if you retreat in fear, these promptings may be lost.
Learn to accept that the ‘questions’ will be frequent companions. The ‘answers’ may be found along the way but only when you are ready for them. So be kind and gentle with both yourself and your ‘vision’. It can be fragile at first as the roots begin to burrow deep and tender shoots start pushing forth towards the light.
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
~ Ranier Maria Rilke.
Receive the crown of life that you have been promised… everlasting beauty for those who have persevered even in the midst of trial. And know that you are loved.
